The free plan
The numbers and the conditions that come with them, in one table.
| Price | $0. No credit card, and it is not a trial. |
|---|---|
| RAM | Up to 6 GB |
| Storage | Up to 20 GB on NVMe SSD |
| Player slots | No cap. The practical limit is how many players your RAM can handle. |
| Uptime | Online 24/7 for as long as the server is renewed. It does not sleep when it is empty. |
| Renewal | One click, paid for with account credits that are free to collect. It is due on a schedule that depends on your plan (every few hours on some plans). |
| Account credits | You collect credits for free by claiming them daily, using the site and running your server, and completing small tasks. Credits cannot be bought. Collected the normal way, they are enough to keep one server online all the time. |
| If you miss a renewal | A server that is not renewed is suspended first. If it is not re-enabled within 7 days, it is removed permanently. You can always create a new server afterwards. |
| Queue to start | None |
| Editions | Java and Bedrock, on the same server if you want crossplay |
| Server software | Vanilla, Paper, Purpur, Fabric, Forge and NeoForge |
| Add-ons | Plugins, mods and modpacks are allowed |
The plans page goes through each limit and how renewals work.
Free and 24/7
Yes, as long as you renew it. A free server here does not go to sleep when the last player leaves, and it does not wait in a queue to start. It keeps running whether anyone is online or not, so friends can join when you are not playing yourself.
The condition is the renewal timer. Free capacity is limited, so every free server runs on a timer, and you renew it in your control panel before the timer runs out. Renewing is one click, paid for with account credits that are free to collect. How often you need to do it depends on your plan: on some plans it is every few hours.
You collect credits for free by claiming them daily, using the site and running your server, and completing small tasks. Credits cannot be bought. Collected the normal way, they are enough to keep one server online all the time.
Check the interval on your plan before you count on the server being up overnight. A server that is not renewed is suspended first. If it is not re-enabled within 7 days, it is removed permanently. You can always create a new server afterwards. Removal is permanent, so keep your own copy of your world.
No free host can run every server for everyone forever at no cost, so each one limits something. Some put your server to sleep when it is empty, some make you wait in a queue to start, and some ask for renewals. Our guide to free 24/7 Minecraft server hosting explains what each approach means for you and what to check before you pick a host.

First server? The full walkthrough is in how to make a free Minecraft server.
Make it yours
A free server is not locked to vanilla. Pick the software that matches how your group wants to play.
Run Paper or Purpur and add plugins for permissions, land claims, economy and anything else your server needs. Players join with the normal game.
Free hosting with pluginsFabric, Forge and NeoForge are supported, and up to 6 GB of RAM is enough for many modpacks. The heaviest packs ask for more, so check before you build a world on one.
Free modded server hostingHost a Bedrock server for phones, tablets and Windows, or let Bedrock players join a Java server so everyone shares one world. Console players can join too, but only through a workaround.
Free Bedrock server hostingSizing
Less than most people expect for vanilla, and more than they expect for big modpacks. What uses memory is the number of players online at once, how far they spread out across the world, and how many plugins or mods are loaded.
A free server here has up to 6 GB of RAM. That covers a vanilla or plugin server for a group of friends and many modpacks. The largest modpacks recommend more than that, and on those you will see lag or crashes on any server with less memory than the pack asks for.

Yes. The free plan costs $0 and does not ask for a credit card. It is not a trial and it has no end date. What it does ask of you is a renewal: you renew your server before its timer runs out, and renewing is one click, paid for with account credits that are free to collect. The free plan runs on account credits. You need credits to renew a server, and you collect them for free: by claiming them daily, by using the site and running your server, and by completing small tasks. Credits cannot be bought.
Yes, for as long as it is renewed. A free server here does not sleep when it is empty and there is no queue to start it. Each server has a renewal timer, and renewing is one click, paid for with account credits that are free to collect. See how renewals work for the details.
It depends on your plan. On some plans the timer is every few hours, so check the interval before you choose a plan.

Up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 20 GB of NVMe SSD storage. To see what that runs, try the RAM calculator.
There is no player cap. The real limit is memory: every player who is online uses some, so a busy server needs more RAM than a quiet one. The RAM guide explains how to work it out.
Yes. Plugins, mods and modpacks are allowed on the free plan. Plugins need Paper or Purpur and mods need Fabric, Forge or NeoForge. Start with how to install plugins or how to install mods.
Yes. You can run a Bedrock server, or set up crossplay so Bedrock players on phones, tablets and Windows join a Java server. Console players can join only through a workaround. The crossplay guide covers the setup and what Bedrock players cannot do.
No. We do not ask for a card on the free plan, so there is nothing to cancel.
No. A free server does not wait in a queue to start, and because a renewed server does not sleep when it is empty, your friends do not have to wait for it to wake up.
Today you can host Minecraft: Java Edition and Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. The free game server hosting page always has the current list.
Free hosts differ mostly in what happens when nobody is playing: some put the server to sleep, some make you wait in a queue, some ask you to renew. We keep the server online and ask you to renew it. The comparison pages list each host's rules side by side, with sources.
No. Severoo is an independent host. It is not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft.
